Your generous donation covers travel, meals, and lodging costs for each student-athlete, as well all of the building supplies, concrete, and materials needed to help restore houses in the area. These supplies are incredibly important as our construction efforts allow local homeowners to rebuild their housing foundation.
“I loved everything about the trip last year. The first thing I said to my parents the night we got home was that I couldn’t wait to go back again next year. From experiencing the culture, to being completely exhausted at the end of each day, to stepping outside of my comfort zone every day, the trip gave me a whole new outlook on the world and my life. My mom has been going on a mission trip for 15 years to the same community in Jamaica. Hearing her talk about how rewarding it is to continue to visit the same people and communities year after year to see the progress other groups have made and continue to strengthen the bonds from the previous year has lit a fire in me to want to experience the same feelings if I get to go back with JWOB."

“I loved seeing the smiles (and the tears) on the faces of those we helped; it was a life-changing trip. Being able to hear their stories at the end of the trip, how they went two years without a roof, going to bed some nights not knowing if it would rain and some nights waking up to a flooding house and having to clean up and being in those environments, with their kids, was tough. It opened my eyes to see how grateful I am and to never take what we have for granted. I am extremely grateful and excited to go back and offer more help and love.”

Philanthropic support is essential to make this trip happen. Each year, the entire cost of the trip has been completely funded through student-athletes’ efforts. This fundraising benefits both the individual student-athlete’s trip, as well as providing resources for the entire group. This annual program is a staple in the Total Person Program, because of the ability to engage in service learning opportunities, and we look forward to increasing the student-athlete participation each year. All donations are tax-deductible.
Our goal is to raise approximately $50,000 to send a group of 23 student-athletes and GT staff on this trip.
